“ Even at the Bottom of the World, the Ocean Is Belching Plastic. ”

According to Sylvia Earle, “It is the worst of times but it is the best of times, because we still have a chance”. This quotation make me want to take this opportunity to draw people's attention to the seriousness of marine pollution with illustration.

The idea of this illustration is the unusual submarine world. Using different types of plastic shapes to create marine life.

The different types of corals are created by glass bottles, gloves and straw. The different kinds of fish are made of fishbones and plastic cups. The rock are replaced by garbage dump. Octopus is created by banana peel. The devil fish are made from a plastic bag. The pearl shell were replaced by polystyrene foam lunch box and eaten apple, and the last is the seaweed was created by plastic spoon and plastic fork.

Besides, the behind meaning of the illustration is seeing may not be true. Humans don't think that littering will cause marine pollution, but it's not. Hence, this illustration is an appeal to everyone not to throw plastic garbage into the sea. Otherwise, marine organisms will be threatened, so plastic marine life will replace real marine life.

The inspiration of this illustration  from Pop Art and Vector illustration style. This is my sample editorial illustration for the article "Even at the Bottom of the World, the Ocean Is Belching Plastic" from EOS.
